I am looking for information on tidal stream directions and strength for the Kimberley. There is quite a lot of info about heights, but stream data is sparse. There seems to be a generalisation that the flood flows north or east, the ebb flowing south or west. However, once you get into to the large bays and sounds, there are many places where that guideline reverses. The frequently held assumption that the flow direction changes at times of local high and low water is also contradicted in a few places.
I am aware of the localised comments in the WA Cruising Guide (I should be, I am the Editor!) but many of them are counter-intuitive so I am trying to piece together a fairly crude tidal atlas for the region. Any suggestions or info greatly appreciated.
