Pilbara Kimberley region unrestricted Fishing Tour Operators License for sale for $65,000 plus GST, or annual lease paid in advance – $6,500 plus GST per year. Currently licensed for vessel with 12 passengers, but may be increased to 20 passenger vessel.

The license covers the northern coast from Onslow in the west, to The NT border in the east, arguably Australia’s best sport and reef fishing grounds. The Kimberley region is booming due to Australians holidaying at home. The WA Government no longer issue new FTOL’s, therefore there is a limited number of FTOL’s available. The price of FTOL’s is increasing accordingly and they are likely to be a wise investment for the future.

In West Australia, a Fishing Tour Operators License, or FTOL is required by all commercial fishing tour businesses running fishing tours on a boat for individuals or groups, where fish can be taken off the boat by the customer. These types of businesses are generally referred to as fishing charters tours.

An FTOL is also required by charter boats that mainly run site seeing tours, but allow customers to fish from the charter boat or a tender to the mother vessel while they on the tour. These are generally restricted FTOL’s, where the fish must not be taken off the boat by the customer, but can be consumed on the boat during the tour.

FTOL’s are specific to a vessel and the vessel must display the current year’s license sticker on the sides of the vessel.
