Hi all,
Just sent off my dollars and am now official so I thought I would make an introduction.
My wife (Colleen) and I (David) sold up and now live on board a Seawind 1160 (38 foot) sailing catamaran. We started our journey in January 2014 from Airlie Beach, QLD although we hail from Victoria.
We also have a dog, Molly. She is a medium-sized mongrel who WILL bark ferociously at you when you approach, but is only putting on a show. She is going on 17 but still thinks she is a pup.
I was an electronical engineer by trade, which comes in handy to a lot of people I meet out here. I will have a stab at fixing anything that uses power, and have tools/equipment on board. (Hint. Prove that it’s not the connectors before you go too far.)
As I write this (September 13) we are at Thursday Island after slowly working our way up the east coast from Airlie. Tomorrow it’s back to the mainland, where we’ll potter around a little before going south to Weipa for a restock. Then we tackle the Gulf and intend on spending the cyclone season on the top of NT.
We’ll then be heading west to earn an upgrade to ‘Kimberley Member’!
I have a sailing blog at http://www.xtsea.com.au and it actually maps each day’s journey if you are interested.
Talk soon!
